The Philadelphia Chapter is the first national MOWW chapter formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1919. Our mission is supporting Youth, Community and Nation. Those who have served, continue to serve. Members are referred to as "Companions". Our members include active and veteran officers, senior enlisted and hereditary members. Other non-veterans are Patriot members. Members enjoy the connection and socialization with other veterans with similar interests.
The chapter supports multiple youth programs e.g. Scouting America, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and both junior and senior JROTC programs. This is done through patriotic education with a focus on civics and leadership. We conduct one-day leadership seminars and sponsor and fund tuition for students to attend a three-day Youth Leadership Conference at Founding Forward, Spirit of America at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The chapter also provides seven $2,000 scholarships to ROTC students in their junior year of college. An Awards program provides medals and certificates for Scouting America, Girl Scouts, junior and senior ROTC to include junior ROTC in Europe.
Our Veteran Outreach program is involved with clothing collections and partnering with other veteran organizations at events, fairs and multiple veteran events.
The chapter has many special meetings during the year. Some of these include luncheons, honoring the Navy, Marines, Air Force and Army branches of the service. Another special event is our annual evening reception in June. Other events include attendance at veteran events that could include sporting events.
Some of the organizations we support and/or work with are: AUSA, Mainline Veterans, Delco Veterans, Chapel of the Four Chaplains, DAR, Wreaths Across America and more. Announcements are sent to the members for the chapter events, luncheons and important announcements. A schedule of Activities is included in the bulletin/newsletter posted below.
